Engaging Young People Who Harm
1 Day Online Course
This one-day course equips professionals to confidently and effectively engage children and young people who use violence or abuse in family or partner relationships. Traditional approaches often avoid challenging harmful behaviour, but this training provides practical tools to address it safely whilst maintaining trust and engagement.
Participants will learn how to build rapport, promote personal accountability, and have constructive conversations that encourage reflection and positive attitude change. The course also helps professionals identify and connect young people with the right specialist support, enabling earlier intervention.
Learning objectives
This session will enable participants to:
Gain an increased knowledge of young people who use violence and abuse in family and partner relationships. Increase confidence to build rapport and engagement whilst also developing personal accountability. Know how to approach the issue of harmful behaviour with a young person to support effective safety planning and risk management. Identify services to signpost young people using harmful behaviours to, so they can access specialist support.
